Story Overview Of Hunted: The Demon's Forge

The dark ages never looked so fun...

Hunted: The Demon's Forge seems like a game that will creep into Spring 2011 unnoticed.  Most gamers I talk to have no idea what game I am mentioning when I bring this title up.  However, I feel that it will exceed expectations.  This preview is for the gamers that don't know a lot about Hunted.

What is Hunted about?
Bethesda Softwork's main page on the game describes it as this:
"The dark ages have become corrupted. Heinous creatures have emerged from underground. Townsfolk across the land are disappearing. Upon the promise of their fortune in gold, mercenaries E'lara and Caddoc take on the daunting task of discovering where the innocent villagers have been taken. Their journey will lead them on a dark and twisted path where they will encounter death, slavery, and sacrifice. Travel deep within the world of Kala Moor...and to the secrets of The Demon's Forge."
You have the power to control E'lara or Caddoc on your adventures.  E'lara is a ranged weapons expert while Caddoc is a stron swordsman.  Along your way, you will discover magic, treasurem, and plenty of vicious monsters ready to kill you.  Sounds fun.

This game has been labeled as 'action/adventure'.  Sorry for all the gamers that anticipated this as a RPG, but it probably won't have many RPG elements in it.  The game will play in a third-person combat style, and I would assume most people would want that anyways.

Bethesda has not announced any online play, but it would be ideal.  The entire (or most of) the story will be based on co-op play between E'lara and Caddoc.  Giving the gamer some sort of multiplayer option would be helpful because these games tend to be more enjoyable that way.

The story of the game is the only thing we can really be sure about for now.  Everything else about the game is sort of up in the air.  Hopefully the great minds at Bethesda (the same ones who brought us Fallout: New Vegas, and Oblivion) will deliver an action packed game for Spring of 2011.

Want Fallout: New Vegas DLC? Too Bad...

Bethesda Softworks has announced DLC for Fallout: New Vegas, but it looks like us PlayStation users are not invited to the opening party.  Xbox 360 will be getting their hands on the DLC December 21, 2010.  A PlayStation Store release date has not been announced.  So, for now at least, we can only hope that this DLC, known as "Dead Money", will come to PlayStation.  When, or if, it does, we will be sure to have a first look as well as a review upon its release.

Let's hope it will not take 10 months to get here though.

Free DLC Will Come to Medal of Honor

Electronic Arts announced on Oct. 27 that free DLC will be coming to Medal of Honor.  Obviously this is just another reason that the game is making loyal fans happy.  Let's see what it will have to offer.

First of all the release of the pack is on Nov. 2, 2010.  The new content will be available for PS3, Xbox Live, and PC.  We can expect new a new game mode as well as new maps.  The new game mode is called Clean Sweep.  Players will have to work together, stay alive, and eliminate the other team to be victorious.  The new maps are Bagram Hangar and Khyber Caves.  We don't know if the new maps will be available for other game modes outside of Clean Sweep.

Also, on Nov. 2.  Hot Zone game mode will be available with two new maps.  The two new maps are Hindukush Pass and Korengal Outpost.  Although new DLC is always exciting, this is not free.  This DLC will cost you $9.99 in the PlayStation Store.

Stay tuned for more information on these DLC packs as the release comes around.

Top 5 Playstation Heroes

Kevin Butler Is Not Included...

Since the first Playstation console, influential characters pop up in most games.  These characters that we come to know and love are also Playstation Heroes.  This is the Playstation Buzz Top 5 Playstation Heroes.  These are the heroes who are featured on on Playstation and fight the evil of their own world.

5. Ratchet (and Clank) From the Ratchet & Clank Franchise
To kick off the list, we have Ratchet.  Who could forgot about the furry little Lombax who has appeared in 8+ titles.  Ratchet, and his robot companion Clank, first appeared on November 4, 2002 in Ratchet & Clank.  After that, there was a new game to come every year with the exception of 2010.  There will be a game, Ratchet & Clank: All 4 One.
Ratchet & Clank in Ratchet & Clank: Up Your Arsenal
4. Nathan Drake From the Uncharted Games
Nathan Drake is the main, and playable, character from Uncharted and Uncharted 2: Among Thieves.  Nathan is the funny, lovable, and unpredictable treasure hunter.  He is also not afraid to crack jokes in the face of danger or death.  Uncharted 2: Among Thieves got game of the year at the VGA of 2009.  Obviously Nathan is doing something right.

LittleBigPlanet 2 Is Delayed Until 2011

Most of us PS3 users were really looking forward to getting LittleBigPlanet 2 before, or for, the holiday season.  Sadly, we will not be seeing LittleBigPlanet 2 at all this year.  The launch date for NA was been delayed for January 18, 2011.  The delay was probably necessary, so that's a good thing.

Mark your calendars a couple months later for this one guys.

Get Your Move on: The Playstation Move Buyers Guide

The PS3 Playstation Move Bundle
The Playstation Move just launched, September 17, 2010.  From having some time to look over products and bundles I have decided to post this little buyers guide for anyone interested in the Playstation Move.

The Minimum
To use the Playstation Move you will need:
  • One (1) Move Remote
  • The PS Eye Camera
  • A TV
  • And a Playstation 3 system
  • A game wouldn't hurt
The PS Eye has been out for quite some time.  If you alrea
dy have it, and you don't want Sports Champions, then you might want to get the Move remote separate for only $49.99 USD.

3D Is Confirmed As Optional

From talking to friends I know personally, people online, and reading other websites, I see that people are scared that 3D Televisions are going to be made mandatory for PS3 use.  People are also worried that they are going to miss out on some of their favorite up coming titles because 3D is mandatory.
Good News: Those rumors are FALSE.  I figured because everyone was too lazy to ask Sony's very reliable support through email.  Honestly, they answer every question I throw at them, which is a lot.  This was no exception as I got a detailed response.  Let's look at the Playstation Consumer Services reply.  For privacy reasons I am not going to post the email word for word, and I will not include the name of the replier.

"Thank you for writing to ask about your concerns for 3D being required to play some games. At this time the option for 3D is only a possibility for the games that have it available, not required. There are also many Users who still use standard HD televisions and non HD displays as well. It would not be fair if everyone is not able to enjoy the same game regardless of their TV's definition."
The good thing is that they thought of the people that don't have 3D or even HD televisions.  It shows that they care about their customers.  However, this could change in the future, especially if a new console arrives.  So don't worry you butts about not playing your PS3 because you don't have a 3D display.  It will take a while before they make any major decision like that.

Medal of Honor Starts Showing Some Better Footage

Many fans of the Medal of Honor franchise have waited for more details on the latest installment, Medal of Honor.  Below you will find a video that EA just released.  It features a unknown map that has not been shown.  It is played in multiplayer in 'Combat Mission' mode.
To be perfectly honest, this new game is looking better and better the more and more they reveal.  I can't wait to play the crap out of it.  Medal of Honor hits stores October 12th, 2010.  PS3 users will get the limited edition which features a PS3 version of the hit PS2 game Medal of Honor Frontline.

Playstation Plus Content For September 21, 2010

Today Grace Chen, Senior Manager of the Playstation Store, made a blog post here announcing the new content for Playstation Plus users on September 21, 2010.  The update to come will include more free content of games, themes, and add-ons.

Zen Pinball
This game, Zen Pinball, will be a free download for Playstation Plus users.  Dive into tons of levels to relive the pinball craze from long ago, but now in digital form.  The game is also packed with several multiplayer options to let everyone get in on the fun.

Swords and Soldiers
Early access demos are one of my favorite things about Playstation Plus.  We get yet another one come September 21, 2010.  Swords and Soldiers is a strategy based side-scrolling game.  Play several game modes as you command armies like Vikings and Aztecs.  Oh, I forgot to mention, you get early access to the game if you like the demo.

Half Off
Two games will be 50% off on September 21, 2010.  These three games are Cuboid, and Savage Moon.  Both games have made a name for themselves and are highly recommended.  Especially for the steal of a price.

That is all only some of the content that will be available.  There is still free avatars, minis, and PS1 Classics that I didn't mention.  This may be one of the most packed updates for Playstation Plus.  So, now we wait, and eventually we will enjoy.

Update v3.42 Leaves Users Dissapointed

Yesterday (September 6th, 2010) the v3.42 update became available for users.  Most users have noticed that each update recently has offered new features or layout options, which is nice to have.  However, this update, v3.42, hasn't brought a lot to the table compared to past updates.

Seen from Playstation's official blog, John Koller (Director, Hardware Marketing) says,
"A minor update to your PS3 system is now available via system software update v3.42 that includes additional security features."
Straight, and to the point.  Obviously the purpose is to possibly throw off some of the hacked PS3s out there.

So go update your PS3 and sulk because it won't benefit you in any way.

Playstation Protection For Plus

In May Playstation introduced a way to give some PS3 users their peace of mind by extending users warranty from 1-2 years extra.  With Playstation Plus advancing with popularity in the Playstation Store, there is now an offer exclusively for Playstation Plus subscribers.
Rather than paying $59.99 USD for a 2 year extension, it is only $44.99 USD for a 2 year extension.
If you don't have Playstation Plus you can still get the extension for the original price from the Playstation Store.  So if you have the extra cash, and really care for your PS3, this is a great deal.  If you have a Plus subscription then this deal should appeal to you even more.

Killzone 3 - Multiplayer Trailer

We all got a pretty good look at KZ3 from the E3 Expo.  You can click here for some of the Killzone 3 single player gameplay.

Every time a game event comes around there are always new videos for us gamers to watch in awe.  Gamescom presented this Killzone 3 Multiplayer video this year.

I gurantee there will be more brutal melee attacks, ranks, and rewards in the online play.  You will also see the map Corinth Highway, which will be playable online after the release.

Killzone 3 launches March 29, 2011.  If you don't buy it, then you obviously don't have a Playstation 3.

New LittleBigPlanet 2 Trailer

If you didn't see the previously posted Adventure Trailer for LittleBigPlanet 2, I highly suggest that you watch it.

Now there is another trailer out for LBP2, and it makes the game harder to wait for.

The trailer really dives deep into how much users will be able to customize their Sackboy (or girl) and levels.

LittleBigPlanet 2 hits stores in November.

Send In Your GotY Votes!

The end of the year is approaching and we all know it.  Video games get awards every year from various sites, T.V. networks, and magazines.  I have a list of awards and I am going through and picking winners now.  However, Game of the Year is a touchy award, and I really want to take Playstation fans thought's into consideration.  I have a list of nominees.  I will not pick a game of the year title for a game not on the following list:

Dead Space Extraction Comes to Playstation 3

Reading through the August issue of Gameinformer Magazine I came across something that was pretty neat.

Dead Space Extraction was once only available on the Nintendo Wii.  Now, with Playstation Move launching soon, Dead Space Extraction will be available for the PS3 version of Dead Space 2.  It will also be available for a seperate download on the Playstation Store.

You can read the full Dead Space Extraction review from IGN here.
